Press8 Telecom is Nominated for Family Business Award

Austin Business Journal nominates family-owned Press8 Telecom for the award.

Austin, August 2, 2021: Press8 Telecom was nominated for the Austin Business Journal’s 2021 Family Business Award. The Family Business Awards honor multi-generational, family-owned businesses in Austin, TX for overall excellence, innovation, ethics, and philanthropy. The awards ceremony took place Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 11:00am –1:00pm at the Renaissance Austin Hotel.

Press8 Telecom is a family-owned VoIP hosted PBX company that was started in 2006 by husband-and-wife team Martin & Tamara Field. They are headquartered in Austin, TX. The company utilizes software that is VoIP based to offer small- to medium-sized businesses a VoIP phone system that has features that allow them to compete with large enterprises like an auto attendant, dial by name directory, call recording, call queues, call reporting, voicemail to text and much more. Their internet-based phone system connects virtual workers from anywhere in the world and helps small- to medium-sized businesses be more competitive.

Based on a report by Blueface, 61% of businesses switch to VoIP-based systems when their contracts expire with their landline carriers. This is partly because VoIP services tend to cost less—with most providers offering free calls to several international locations and the relatively standard U.S. and Canada.

This trend isn’t limited to users of landline phone systems. IT leaders who use their own session-initiated protocol (SIP) trunking solutions to deliver business communications on-premise are also considering hosted providers. In fact, 90% of IT leaders say they will switch their communications to the cloud using hosted PBX. Not only does this provide geo-redundancy, but it also makes server maintenance and patching the responsibility of the provider.

A recently published study by the Harvard Business Review found family firms are more innovative than other companies even though their R&D budgets are smaller.

Of the company’s nomination, Press8 Telecom CEO Tamara Field said, “We are thrilled to be nominated for this award. Austin is our home, and it is where we raised our children. It holds a special place in our hearts. Even though we do have customers all over the country and in Canada, we will always keep our headquarters here in Austin, Texas.” Press8 Telecom is a software as a service company that offers small- to medium-sized businesses located in the US and Canada a powerful cloud-based VoIP phone system with over 50 free features including an auto-attendant, voicemail to text, call routing, call reports, web faxing, conference bridges and call recording.

According to Texas CEO Magazine “In a Texas A&M study of the S&P 500, family-owned businesses beat other firms in both revenue and employment growth. A recently published study by the Harvard Business Review found family firms are more innovative than other companies even though their R&D budgets are smaller. Some of the reasons are because family businesses often have a longer-term view and are more stable, inspire more trust, and benefit from a greater commitment by their employees.”
