We at Press8 Telecom are a proud supporters of the open source community, and employ the use of the Asterisk PBX as part of our clustered VoIP hosted PBX solution. Astricon, primarily sponsored by Digium (the creators of Asterisk), is an annual telephony event to network, share ideas, learn about new and upcoming additions, and have a little fun. We had a small booth in the exhibit hall to display our product, including some brochures, stylish Press8 pens, and even some custom Press8 M&M's. Astricon 2007 year was held in sunny Phoenix, AZ.

We had the pleasure of meeting Mark Spencer, founder and original creator of Asterisk, after his touching presentation on his views of open source and Digium's impact in the telephony world. Mark was running a little bit late that day for his presentation, so he made up lost time by making his entrance through the presentation hall in his golf cart!

Overall, Astricon was a great success. We met some really interesting people, got some great new ideas, met with some of our existing vendors, and got to show off our product to others!
