How to Improve the Morale at Your Business
Are you finding out that some of your employees are extremely negative? You think of your disposition as happy for the most part. You even make an effort to stay positive and act positive. If you are finding yourself surrounded by negativity, you can still stay positive. It is important that you, as the boss and/or owner of the business, stay positive.
There are a few ways you can stay positive even with a handful of negative employees. Really observe what this person or persons are negatively saying. For instance, if you have been watching an employee for awhile, take notes if this person just is in a bad habit of being negative and does not even realize it.
If negativity is directed at you try not to take it personally. The person that is being negative towards you just needs to vent. Of course you do not like your employee speaking about you, you need to see what the situation is. Is this person overwhelmed at work? Is this person sharing negative information that is happening in his or her home? You can give a little time to let the employee get over this. Although you need to set a goal when the person needs to go back to his/her job.
Try to think of people as having the best of intentions. Although you may hear other people complaining about another employee, do not believe the gossip. If there is something important you have heard about an employee that is being complained about, give him or her the benefit of the doubt.
Try to be compassionate around the negative person or negative persons. Surely you get bogged down hearing the same old same old complaining, day after day. People that are extremely negative are feeling a bit helpless and afraid.
A good idea would be to surprise the negative person with a little gift or do something extra special for him or her.
When you stay positive at your business it will rub off onto your employees. You cannot stop all negativity but you can become a roll model for your employees to follow.
